Indoor Environments

Indoor
Flooring

Indoor-use classification for flooring products and solutions intended for enclosed sports, commercial, gym, dance and acoustic-control environments.

Indoor Considerations

Key factors that determine which product is right for your indoor project. Specific performance data, certifications, and stock information are held at the product level.

Subfloor Preparation

Concrete must be flat, dry, and structurally sound before installation. Moisture content, surface regularity (typically ≤ 2 mm / 2 m), and compressive strength all affect adhesion and long-term performance. Confirm subfloor conditions with your installer before specifying a product.

Traffic & Load Classification

Foot traffic intensity, rolling loads, and point loads from equipment determine required wear layer thickness, density, and surface finish. Sports courts, gyms, and commercial corridors each carry different load profiles -- product selection must match actual use conditions.

Installation Method

PVC rolls typically require full-spread adhesive or loose-lay with tape at seams, followed by heat-welding for watertight joints. Rubber rolls and mats may use adhesive or interlocking. PP tiles click-lock without adhesive. Each method has specific subfloor, acclimatisation, and finishing requirements.

Acoustic & Technical Requirements

Indoor sports and commercial spaces may require impact sound insulation, vibration damping, or sport-specific performance standards (e.g. EN 14904, FIBA, BWF). Acoustic underlayers, foam backing thickness, and surface hardness all contribute. Confirm applicable standards with the project consultant before specifying.

Certification & Test Reports

Certifications (fire rating, VOC/IAQ, slip resistance, sport performance) are issued per specific product reference and test batch. One certificate does not cover all products or all thicknesses. Always verify that the certificate on file matches the exact product code, thickness, and colour you are ordering.

Maintenance & Longevity

Wear layer thickness, surface coating type, and cleaning protocol determine service life. Abrasive cleaning agents, improper machine scrubbing, or prolonged exposure to standing water will accelerate wear. Confirm recommended maintenance procedures with the product technical data sheet.

Selection Guide

Answer these questions before specifying a product for a indoor environment. They help us give you an accurate recommendation the first time.

01

What sport or activity is the floor for?

Different sports have different requirements for shock absorption, ball rebound, surface friction, and marking layouts. Confirm the primary sport before selecting a product family.

02

What is the subfloor condition?

Flatness, moisture level, and compressive strength must meet product installation requirements. Subfloor remediation may be needed before installation.

03

What traffic and load levels are expected?

High-traffic commercial corridors need thicker wear layers and higher density. Sports courts need sport-specific performance rather than just durability.

04

Are there acoustic or vibration requirements?

Specify whether impact sound insulation (ΔLw) or vibration reduction is required. This may require a dedicated underlayer in addition to the surface flooring.

05

Which certifications are required by the project?

Confirm fire rating class, VOC/IAQ standards, and sport certification (EN 14904, FIBA, BWF, etc.) with the project consultant. We will verify which products hold matching certificates.

06

What is the project timeline and quantity?

Stock availability, MOQ, and production lead time depend on product, specification, colour, and quantity. Share your project deadline early so we can confirm feasibility.
