When to request a sample

Samples reduce project risk. Here are the five scenarios where a physical sample matters most -- for you, your client, or the approving consultant.

New Customer

First time working with Sportaflor? A sample lets you evaluate our material quality, colour accuracy and finish standard before committing to a commercial order.

Recommended for first orders

New Project

Each project has its own end-client expectations. A sample confirms the selected product and colour match the project brief before materials are ordered and shipped.

Per-project confirmation

New Product

Considering a product line you haven't stocked before -- a new rubber mat series, PP tiles, or a commercial vinyl range? A sample helps you understand the product before adding it to your catalogue.

Catalogue expansion

New Colour or Thickness

Switching to a different colour, pattern or thickness within a product you already know? A sample verifies the exact shade and feel match your expectations -- especially important for colour-sensitive projects.

Colour-critical

Consultant or Tender Approval

When a project involves an architect, sports consultant, facility manager or a formal tender process, a physical sample -- along with technical data and certifications -- is often required for official approval.

Existing Customer, Same Product

If you're reordering the same product, colour and specification you've already received and approved, a new sample is generally not required. Contact us directly to proceed.

Sample rules

Most standard samples are provided at no charge -- but not all samples are free. Here's what to expect.

Standard Samples

Typical small swatches from stock products

  • Sample cost: usually no charge

    Standard small swatches of in-stock products are typically provided at no cost. We will confirm before shipping.

  • Courier cost: customer's account

    International shipping is at the customer's cost. Please provide your FedEx, DHL or other courier account number when requesting.

  • Typical size: A4 to A3 swatch

    Standard samples are cut swatches, sufficient to evaluate colour, texture, thickness and surface quality.

  • Multiple products in one shipment

    We can consolidate multiple product samples into one courier shipment to reduce shipping cost.

Special Samples

Custom, large or non-standard requests

  • Sample fee may apply

    Special samples -- including custom colours, non-standard thicknesses, large-format pieces or new product developments -- may carry a sample charge. We will confirm cost and lead time before processing.

  • Longer lead time

    Special samples that require production or cutting to specification will have a longer lead time. We'll advise the timeline after reviewing your request.

  • Examples of special samples

    Custom-dyed colours, non-standard thickness, full-width cross-sections, specific pattern combinations, or samples for lab testing / official certification submission.

DHL Express is available for most destinations. Share your DHL account number and we'll book on your behalf.

Using UPS, SF International or another courier? Mention it in the notes field and provide your account details.

No courier account? -- We can arrange shipping and invoice the freight cost separately. Please note this in your request.

Sample Dispatched

Samples are packed and shipped via your preferred courier. We provide the tracking number once dispatched.

Once you've reviewed the sample, let us know your feedback. We'll prepare a formal quotation based on your confirmed specification.
